Royston Head, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia

Awe. Amazement. And sandy bucketloads of Appreciation.

I feel so fortunate to live on our coast.

To start mornings treated by sun and surf, inhaling sea-salted air. Smiling as I wander past other coastal dwellers, out there starting their mornings the same way.

It’s so precious, so worth protecting, and so worth celebrating.

And as I gaze upon my local, Avoca Beach, I know I’m not the only one who feels this way: we don’t just love it. We’re in love with it.

As a kid, I was spoiled with what felt like endless summer holidays on NSW South Coast beaches. Nose politely smothered with coloured zinc, the biggest decision was picking which flavour of Paddle Pop ice cream after lunch. Those daily routines of beach time and afternoon coastal bush walks became ingrained.

These days, I reckon it’s a truly delicious thing that our coast is a playground for any and every age. Surfing to scuba, walking to wake boarding, fishing to swimming. So many ways to fall under its spell.

We live in it, and it lives in us.

From this passion for my own stretch of Australian coast, comes the story of Duke and Hustle.

A simple idea – a brand to express our collective love and devotion to this vast, rugged, generous shoreline.

And that’s why the story of Duke and Hustle is also one of your affection for this coast.

You too may have a stretch you’re profoundly in love with. Your familiar. Your go-to. Your happy place. Worth celebrating.

The concept of Duke and Hustle is to offer you unique coastal-themed threads to wear proudly, while you proudly wear your heart on your sleeve.  (And, uhum, those threads come in short sleeve, long sleeve and – ironically –  sleeveless.)

Whether you want to honour your own with a “Love4Local,” or all 59,736kms of Aussie coastline with our D&H Origin brand range, there’s a 100% cotton way to wrap yourself in coastal spirit.

So hey, here’s to seeing you out there on the Australian coast, and thank you for your support!

We can do better.

While rejoicing in it, we know our extraordinary coast hasn’t always been well looked after. We’re getting better at it, our growing awareness is evident, and there are so many positive stories when you look for them.

Duke and Hustle has an opportunity to contribute to that good story. It’s early days yet, but for now we’ll send 5% of our profits to the Australian Marine Conservation Society. By promoting both the beauty and fragility of our country’s coast and its wildlife, the passion of caring for it also spreads. To pick up the plastics and rubbish. To think twice about our stress on the marine and coastal environments. To make decisions that put sustainability first.

So love your local, and love that every Duke and Hustle purchase contributes to a donation to the AMCS.

Other stuff we’d all agree is worth doing.

As we become aware of our impact on this earth we recognise how our purchasing habits have ramifications beyond our own pocket.

That’s why Duke and Hustle isn’t into fast fashion. 🔗 We believe in timeless classics, designed to last. And we believe they should be made the right way.

We use apparel made of 100% Australian cotton. Supporting one of the most water-efficient cotton industries in the world, and employing more than 12,000 people.*

Our blank apparel is made in a WRAP-certified† location. Ensuring the fair treatment of all employees who turn our Australian cotton into quality threads, which we then turn into designs you can proudly wear.

We deliver in bio-degradable satchels^ that will break down in your own home compost, to avoid methane gas release through landfill.

We support local business cos it’s good for the Australian economy, and it’s just good, period. Our apparel is printed and heat pressed here on the Central Coast. Our vinyls come from Queensland. Our blank apparel is sourced through an Australian-owned Melbourne-based business. And our bio-bags come through another superhuman Aussie business.

We all hope that gives you something else to love.
